No Windows compatibility on Wal-Mart Lindows PCs
As we reported yesterday, the US retail chain Wal-Mart launched the first PCs equipped with Durons (850 MHz/1.3 GHz) and Celeron (1.3 GHz) with the alternative operating system LindowsOS. Among other things, the compatibility with conventional Windows programs was also advertised.
As you can now or can not read on the Wal-Mart homepage, there is no longer anything about compatibility with Windows . Only the slogan '... with the stability of Linux and the ease of use of Windows' is written there. The magazine 'NewsForge' now reports that Wal-Mart removed this sentence from its homepage shortly after the start of sales. A request from the magazine to Lindows spokesman Cheryl Schwarzman was also inconclusive. He continued to praise the existing 1,300 Click-N-Run programs that can be downloaded from the website for about $ 100 a year.
