No Star Wars II without AMD

What certainly not many moviegoers knew has now become known. A large part of the movie Star Wars Episode II - Attack of the Clone Warriors was rendered on computers equipped with AMD MP processors.

Servers with AMD's Athlon MP processors were used in JAK Films and Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) Studios, part of Lucas Digital Ltd. LLC. Here the fantastic worlds and effects were calculated. The MP processors are currently the only processors from AMD that support multi-processing. With the new revision, which came onto the market in mid-February, this functionality was taken from the popular Athlon XP. The next generation of multi-processor compatible processors is only available with the AMD Opteron Sledgehammer. It is not yet known whether the AMD processors Barton and Clawhammer, which will be released before, will be multi-processor capable.
