No more DSL flat rate for private customers with 1 & 1

Apart from AOL, there have only been 1 & 1 as a real competitor to Telekom for the DSL flat rate, and from now on this is no longer true. There the private customer tariff will be converted to a transfer volume tariff, but will also be a bit cheaper.

After being alone in Over 27,000 new flat rate customers have registered with 1 & 1 in the last four weeks, the company now had to react quickly to avoid major losses. The private customers caused considerably more traffic than was planned in the calculation for the tariff. For private customers, DSL private is now being offered at € 16.90, with 5 GB of traffic free, each additional megabyte being charged at € 0.5 cents. For business customers there will continue to be a real flat rate, DSL Business, which at € 39.90 is more than twice as expensive as the previous private flat rate at € 19.90. 1 & 1 now wants to write to customers and classify them into the corresponding tariffs based on the previous data volume, but more than 90 percent would have caused less than 5 GB of traffic. These changes also result in a special right of termination for customers.
