News about the future Napster service
On Friday, Napster boss Hank Barry announced that the company, together with the Bertelsmann group, would introduce a new technology at Napster that would allow the exchange of music titles but prevent the songs from being burned onto CDs. All files that are exchanged via Napster should have a special layer with which you can see who the file came from and who downloaded it.
Barry said that Napster was really trying to come to an agreement with the music industry and find a mutually acceptable solution. In addition, they want to offer a member-based service as soon as possible. With the service, you should apparently pay for each downloaded title individually and not, as planned, a monthly fixed price.
