New specification for PC power supplies

Last week Intel announced the new specification for PC power supplies. The new power supplies call themselves 'ATX12V'.

The reason for the new specifications is the enormous power hunger of the Pentium 4 (at 1.4 GHz: over 66 watts). The only change compared to the current power supply units is a new four-pin plug. It is a 12 volt connection that will fit on the new boards with voltage regulation module 9, this VRM9 then supplies the Pentium 4.
