New security hole in Internet Explorer 5.5

A new JavaScript-related vulnerability has been discovered in Internet Explorer 5.5. By making a mistake, it is possible to circumvent the security function, which is supposed to prevent information from being transmitted from one frame to another.

The key point here is the Document Object Model, which contains important information about the open documents and which JavaScript can access. This makes it possible to read out local files for each user. The only remedy here is to temporarily deactivate JavaScript. Unfortunately, Microsoft has not yet commented on this problem.
