New products with 3dfx know-how?
The graphics chip manufacturer 3dfx and some of the employees were recently taken over by nVidia. But some former 3dfx employees have obviously found their way back to the company 3DPower and are again busy working on new graphics chips.
The source has information according to which the graphics card manufacturer Absolute Power will bring a new graphics card onto the market next Monday, which will be largely based on the unreleased Rampage from 3dfx. This should originally be clocked with 200MHz, show 200MHz DDR memory, 4 render pipelines and a Transforming & Lightning unit. It will be interesting to see whether the developers have fine-tuned the clock rates here. Even more interesting, however, will be the response from nVidia. With the takeover of 3dfx, all patents went into the hands of nVidia and so the 3DPower developers were no longer allowed to use the Rampage design. The extent to which this information is true will be shown on Monday.
