New PowerNow! Processors from AMD
Yesterday AMD presented two new energy-saving embedded processors. These are the AMD-K6-2E + and AMD-K6-IIIE +, both of which have the PowerNow! support. Both processors are manufactured using 0.18 µm technology. AMD differentiates between 'Standard Power' and 'Low Power' versions.
The 'Low Power' versions are available with clock frequencies of 350, 400 and 450 MHz, the 'Standard Power' version with clock frequencies of 400, 450 and 500 MHz. All low power versions of both the AMD-K6-2E + and the AMD-K6-IIIE + processors have PowerNow! Power-saving technology. This enables the power consumption of the processors to be reduced, especially in applications that are critical for power consumption. The AMD-K6-2E + and AMD-K6-IIIE + are available now. Prices for quantities of 1,000 are between $ 110 for the 500 MHz 'low-power' version of the AMD-K6-IIIE + and $ 80 for the 500 MHz 'low-power' version of the AMD-K6 -2E +.
