New overclocking protection from AMD?
Apparently AMD will equip its new processors with a different overclocking protection than before. Up until now it was very easy to overclock AMD processors, a Duron 800MHz could be overclocked up to 1 GHz, for example.
The new CPUs will ignore the multiplier settings of the motherboard in the future, which they do according to AMD but supposedly always have done. It is now up to the tuning freaks to find a solution to be able to overclock the AMD processors again in the future. So far, the new CPUs are not yet widespread on the market.
