New mobile processors from Intel
As announced last week, Intel today launched three new mobile processors. These are two new Pentium III versions with the energy-saving Speedstep technology and a clock frequency of 800 or 850 MHz. In addition, the Mobile Celeron with 700 MHz is now available.
In the extreme power-saving mode in which the processor is mostly in idle mode, the CPUs consume less than 2 watts, according to Intel. In normal operation, however, this value rises to 27.5 watts (850 MHz, 1.6V) for the 850MHz Pentium III or to 16.1 watts in battery operation (700 MHz, 1.35V). The prices for the CPUs, with the purchase of 1000 pieces, start at $ 181 for the new Mobile Celeron and increase to $ 508 or $ 722 for the new Pentium III.
