New hard drives from IBM
IBM has announced a new family of hard drives, the Deskstar 60GXP. The new series currently includes three models with 20, 40 and 60 GByte storage capacity.
The disks rotate at 7,200 revolutions per minute, have a 2MByte cache, have an average access time of 8.5ms and feel on the ATA-100 interface like at home. IBM uses 20 GByte platters for the Deskstar 60GXP series, as is currently common. The availability of the disks is to be ensured in December, with the 60GB model for 355 US dollars changing hands.
