New graphics chip from VIA in May?

The chipset manufacturer VIA wants to introduce its own new graphics core called Zoetrope in the coming month of May. Until now, it was assumed that the core would only be used in the VIA chipsets.

Sources from DigiTimes report, however, that VIA is seriously considering developing entire graphics chips with the Zoetrope core. So it could be that graphics cards with VIA chips will soon be sold. However, this step is only taken if the performance of the 0.15 micron graphics chip is right and can keep up with the competition. The Zoetrope will probably support T&L, but only after Direct X 7.
