New details about the hammer

According to the latest information on the next generation of AMD processors, the so-called hammer processors from CeBit were operated at 1.4 GHz. The next stepping of the CPU core will be clocked much higher.

The next processors with A1 stepping will be operated with clock frequencies of 1.8 to 2 GHz. The first processors with the final stepping are expected to have a performance rating of 3400+. Information about the performance of the core is also available. In 32-bit applications it should be around 15% faster than a current Athlon XP. If you recompile these programs in 64 bit, another 10% more performance should be possible. In addition to VIA and SiS, ALi is now apparently also developing chipsets for the new processors from AMD.
