New burner from Yamaha
Rumor has it that Yamaha is planning to introduce a new burner next week. The CRW 2100 should then be able to write the blanks at 16x and RW blanks at 10x speed and read CD-ROMs at 40x speed.
Since this burner does not use the Burn Prof technology supports it, it gets an 8MB cache. It is hoped that the 'buffer underrun' effect will be a thing of the past. Otherwise, the CRW 2100 supports everything that can be supported: CD-Text, burning of overlong CD-Rs and writing in DAO-RAW mode. The device will come onto the market with ATAPI/EIDE and SCSI interfaces, the price is not yet known.
