Netscape discontinues browser development

The well-known software manufacturer Netscape will no longer develop browsers in the future and instead wants to establish itself as a large media portal on the Internet.

The Netscape boss Jim Bankoff said in an interview that Netscape in six Months will no longer be mistaken for a browser manufacturer by anyone. The new Internet portal will then mainly offer content from 'Time Magazine' and from CNN, which, like Netscape, are also subsidiaries of the AOL TimeWarner Group.
