Napster and RTL as television music channels
Not only in the USA, also in Germany a concept for the online sale of individual pieces of music is being worked on. Bertelsmann is now trying to develop the Napster and RTL brands into a television music channel.
Bertelsmann boss Thomas Middelhoff believes that you should be able to buy songs individually, rather than buying a whole CD would be forced. By combining television and music in one specialty television channel, Thomas Middelhoff hopes to increase sales of music. In order to be able to operate a little more freely and cost-effectively, the company wants to part with the Bertelsmann-Springer specialist publishing group. If the prices are right, the chances are not bad, especially since surveys show that the majority of music CDs buy individual songs online.
