MSI introduces the 850 Pro2
MSI today introduced the new 850 Pro2, the second generation of motherboards for Intel Pentium 4 CPUs up to 2 GHz with Intel's 850/ICH2 chipset. The 850 Pro2 is produced in 4-layer technology and uses the 423 socket of the Pentium 4s.
The four RIMM module memory banks allow a maximum capacity of 2 GB. The board also has four PCI slots, one AGP 4x, one CNR slot and four USB ports (2x2). Audio is provided by an integrated audio ICH2 chip. Of course, the Ultra DMA 100 IDE port is not missing either. With the new MSI feature 'PC2PC', a direct network connection between two PCs is also possible via a USB cable, which is included in the scope of delivery. With this feature, a data transfer rate of 8.6 Mbps can be achieved. The board also has the well-known D-LEDs that provide information about the system status when booting using 16 different color combinations. A BIOS update can also be performed quickly and easily using LiveBIOS on the MSI website. The customer has to pay for all these features with around 450 Marks and can purchase the board in stores from mid-July.
