Mobile Pentium 4 is delayed

The Intel Mobile Pentium 4, the introduction of which was originally planned for February 2002, will only appear on the market a month or two later, ie in March or April. The delays in the new Pentium 4 (Northwood) therefore also influence the launch of the mobile version.

In contrast to the Willamette core currently in use, the Northwood core is manufactured in 0.13 µm and has further detail improvements twice the size of the L2 cache. Thanks to the improved manufacturing technology in particular, the power loss in the form of heat and thus also the power consumption should be significantly reduced. These measures make a mobile version of the Pentium 4 even conceivable because the old core with its consumption would not even come close to being suitable for use in notebooks.

Originally the introduction of the new Pentium 4 with Northwood core was for the desktop sector was already planned for December of this year, but due to problems and tactical calculations, it will now be available at the beginning of the year with 2.0 and 2.2 GHz. The introduction of the Mobile Pentium 4 is obviously also affected by these delays, so that it will now appear at least a month later.
