Midway and Eidos are investigating merger again
The Eidos owner SCi apparently still seems to be interested in selling the mother of the successful 'Tomb Raider' series. Once again, Midway, which recently attracted attention again with Unreal Tournament 3 , seems to be one of the main candidates for a merger.
This emerges from various US media reports that indicate a contact person at a major publisher as the source. So far, those responsible on both sides have refused to comment on the latest rumors.
In the professional world, a potential merger in which the overall stronger Midway would emerge as the lead still has some opportunities in terms of content. The new company could come up with a larger, complementary portfolio and use existing synergies to become more competitive. On the other hand, however, it cannot be denied that both game houses are in a worse position today than they were a few years ago, so that the aforementioned effect is now likely to be weaker than originally possible/div>
