Microsoft's Xbox 2 without nVidias graphics chips?
Anyone who would like to gossip about the world of the 'rich and beautiful' at the coffee table can choose Gala or Colorful. Those who want the latest whispers from the hardware industry will often visit The Inquirer. Even today you got to see interesting things there.
For the Xbox, which was only introduced in Japan today, there is yes a planned successor, the Xbox 2, for which the first studies and a reference design should already be available. People who have already been able to take a closer look at this design are now of the opinion that Microsoft will do without graphics chips from nVidia in the future. The reason for this could be the high prices of nVidias, which have moved Microsoft to offer the Xbox at a higher price. Accordingly, VIA and ATI should vie for the contract to produce the graphics unit. The Taiwanese chipset manufacturer would thus be involved in a second front in addition to the ability to provide the CPU. As I said, this is just a rumor. However, we can certainly be curious who will deliver the components for the second console from Microsoft when and why.
