Microsoft Windows Whistler Beta 1 is postponing
Beta 1 of the common successor to Windows Me and Windows 2000 with the code name 'Whistler' will apparently be postponed by two weeks. The initially planned start date for the US beta test is therefore only October 25th and not October 11th, as was previously the case.
Furthermore, Microsoft has extended the planned development time so that a release of the final version is now aimed at in the third quarter of 2001 becomes. However, the exact reasons for these shifts are unknown. Whistler, which will probably have the name Windows.NET 1.0, is to come onto the market in four variants: Personal, Professional, Server, and Advanced Server. The surface will be completely skinable, as is currently possible with the WindowBlinds program. The old start menu will also disappear, to name just a few new features.
