Microsoft takes over Navision

Microsoft today announced that it has signed a contract to purchase Navision, a global provider of integrated business software solutions. With the takeover, Microsoft is adding the capabilities of Navision products to its Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions division.

The company thereby strengthens its ability to offer integrated .NET business solutions for small and medium-sized customers. The takeover offer offers Navision shareholders 300 Danish kroner (40.36 euros) per share. The total transaction value is estimated at approximately 1.5 billion euros.

Once the acquisition is complete, Microsoft will integrate Navision into its Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions division. The headquarters of Navision, located in Vedbaek in Denmark, will in future act as the headquarters for the development and operational operation of Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Vedbaek will thus be the largest Microsoft location for product development outside the USA.
