Microsoft releases Whistler Beta 1
The world's largest software company, Microsoft, released the first beta version of the new Windows with the code name 'Whistler' yesterday evening. This version will be made available to all close Microsoft partners, independent hardware and software developers and around 200,000 testers from the MSDN (Microsoft Developer Network).
Whistler Beta 1 (Build 2296) represents the first step towards the merger of Windows Me and Windows 2000 and should combine the advantages of both operating systems. Completion is planned for autumn 2001, whereby the Personal, Professional and Server version should appear one after the other at short intervals.
