Microsoft releases new Encarta versions
The new Encarta version should be available in stores in two versions towards the end of September. The plus version should cost around 180 marks and contain 20% more articles as well as significantly more media elements than the standard version, which costs around 120 DM.
Encarta 2001 Plus will be available on three CDs or on DVD. In terms of the interface and handling, not much has changed since the predecessor, but the interactive timeline 'Historama' has been significantly expanded and the research assistant has been better integrated into the lexicon. In addition to the Encarta Encyclopedia, the Encarta World Atlas will also appear in September and will cost DM 120 individually and DM 250 in a package with Encarta 2001 Plus. In addition, Microsoft plans to soon offer the German online version of the lexicon. On the free website encarta.de, however, only 40% of the texts of the Encarta standard version will be included. The visitor will have access to 16,500 articles, graphics and photos. Unfortunately, online Encarta will completely dispense with multimedia elements.
