Microsoft is looking for illegal software vendors
Microsoft has declared war on professional pirate retailers. From now on, test buyers will be on the road all over Germany until June and try to buy illegal Microsoft software. Test purchases have not been unusual in the past, but now Microsoft is intensifying the search.
Both the small computer shop next door as well as large retail chains are examined more closely. With this campaign, Microsoft wants to ensure more equality of opportunity in the market, as the enormous competitive pressure entices some dealers to sell illegal software. In addition to the increased test purchases, Microsoft started a campaign in the most important trade magazines to alert dealers to the increased risk of being caught doing illegal activities. Microsoft also points out compensation payments and civil and criminal consequences. With this campaign, Microsoft would also like to support honest dealers who, due to their legal business practices, could sometimes fall behind.
