Microsoft introduces new licensing model

Microsoft will introduce new license models for business customers on October 1st, 2001. Among other things, the update insurance is new.

This states that you can only use the software updates by paying annual fees. Microsoft also wants to apply the rules to contracts that have already been concluded. However, it is claimed that only 20 percent of customers would have to pay more than before with the new license model. A third should even save as a result. Microsoft will also be offering its software for rent from October. These products may then only be used in the contractually agreed period. In this case you don't have to pay extra for updates.
