Microsoft fell victim to a DoS attack
After Microsoft's website could not be accessed on Wednesday due to an error by an employee, a DOS attack occurred on Thursday. According to Microsoft, there is no connection between these two incidents.
The DOS attack brought the routers to their knees who are responsible for managing the traffic on the websites. Microsoft.com and MSN.com were again affected and could not be reached all morning. Also Hotmail.com, Expendia.com, MSNBC.com and CarPoint.com could not be reached. Because of the ongoing investigation, Microsoft does not want to publish any more detailed information at the moment. However, it is doubtful that the two incidents should have nothing to do with each other. It could be that no Microsoft technician configured a router incorrectly and was therefore responsible for the failure on Wednesday, but Microsoft just did not recognize the DOS attack as such on Wednesday.
