Microsoft buys Great Plains

Microsoft has bought the software company Great Plains, manufacturer of the business software 'Apertum'. Microsoft has issued its own shares to the value of around 1.1 billion dollars.

The company is to survive as a separate division at Microsoft and the 2000 employees are to develop programs for small and medium-sized companies that they work with Help and automate business processes such as sales, e-commerce, personnel management or inventory management.
