Microsoft brings Windows with Itanium 2 support
Microsoft supports the Itanium 2 processor, Intel's new technology for 64-bit environments, with a version of Windows 2000 Advanced Server specially optimized for the second generation of Intel chips: Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Limited Edition 1.2.
Microsoft and Intel are thus continuing their cooperation in the 64-bit area, which has been going on since 1997. For the first generation of the Itanium processor , Microsoft launched an optimized version of Windows 2000 Advanced Server last year.
The new 64-bit release from Microsoft The server operating system addresses the growing demands for performance, reliability and scalability that companies are faced with when using memory-intensive enterprise applications. Even the most demanding application scenarios in which data volumes of up to 16 terabytes are queried, transferred or calculated can be easily implemented on the basis of the limited edition.
