Microsoft brings mobile phone operating system
Microsoft has announced that it will release a cell phone operating system previously known as the 'Stinger' by the end of this year. A mobile phone network provider (such as T-Mobil (D1) and Vodaphone (D2)) have already announced that they will support Microsoft in this project.
The situation is worse for mobile phone manufacturers: none of the market leaders (Nokia, Motorola and Matsushita) has so far announced a collaboration. 'Stinger' cell phones should have a comparatively large color display and functions such as an appointment calendar or an address book. You should also be able to play music and videos. Although 'Stinger' phones are said to have many of the functions of handheld PCs, they are unlikely to replace them and are primarily intended for making calls.
