Micron buys Hynix factory
Micron, which has just been named a possible new market leader in the memory sector, will soon buy a factory for the production of 8-inch wafers from its competitor Hynix. This is the unanimous report of several Taiwanese distributors of Hynix Ram.
This step will drive the miniaturization of memory components faster. But the negative aspects must not be ignored either. The competition, which is so important for the market, is gradually being displaced by the numerous acquisitions. And so analysts are already assuming that the increase in memory prices will continue, not least because of this deal in 2002.
