Micosoft's Media Player 8 logs playback behavior

Somehow everyone guessed it secretly. Microsoft's Media Player 8 records the music CDs and DVDs played in a log file. That would not be so bad in and of itself if an individual user ID were not also saved.

Every time a CD or DVD is inserted, a database query is started via the Internet to find the content of the inserted Find out and display the disc. A log file is created so that this happens more quickly when the same pane is inserted repeatedly. For marketing experts, but also for software pirates, this opens up undreamt-of possibilities. According to a report by the Washington Post, Microsoft has no plans to evaluate this data. Fortunately, you can turn off the ID under the menu Extras Options/Player with the item 'Allow identification of the player by Internet sites'.
