Maxtor USB 2.0 hard drives
Maxtor has announced a USB 2.0 hard drive which, with 120 GB, is currently the largest storage capacity of a USB 2.0 device. In addition to the 120 GB model already mentioned, the Personal Storage 3000LE product family will also have a model with 40 GB storage capacity.
With the larger of the two hard drives, Maxtor is particularly targeting the backup area, for example for image and video processing. In order to be able to use the new models at all, Maxtor has already referred to its upgrade card for USB 2.0, which should also prepare older computers for USB 2.0. There is also a solution for notebooks in the form of a PCMCIA card. European prices have not yet been determined, but in the USA, where the two hard drives will be available from mid-February, the 120 GB Personal Storage 3000LE costs around US $ 300, the smaller version with 40 GB costs around US $ 200 change hands.
