Maxtor offers a 3 year warranty on its hard drives
Like many other hard drive manufacturers, Maxtor reduced its warranty period for hard drives to 1 year some time ago. The colleagues from xBit-Labs have now learned that the manufacturer continues to offer a 3-year guarantee and support under certain conditions.
As we already reported about Western Digital, Maxtor now also offers against for a surcharge of just under 20 US dollars, a warranty extension to 3 years. For this purpose, a flyer is enclosed with the retail packaging, which informs the customer of this additional service and which he can then use if he wishes.
It is possible that other manufacturers will now come up with similar offers . Unfortunately, the customer is now forced to pay additional money for a service that was included in the price a few months ago. The next few months will show to what extent the buyer takes this manufacturer's behavior into account.
