Logitech buys Labtec
Logitech, mouse and keyboard manufacturer, has bought Labtec. This means that Logitech can expand its offering primarily to include audio peripherals and game controllers.
Logitech pays 18 US dollars for each Labtec share, which corresponds to a value of 125 million US dollars. Logitech made this investment according to its own information mainly because of the rapidly growing market for voice communication via the PC. The microphones, headsets, game controllers and boxes from Labtec perfectly complement Logitech's products in this sector. But Logitech has also set its sights on the wireless communications market. According to Logitech, the next generation of wireless devices should open up completely new possibilities for Labtec and Logitech products.
