Linux announced for the Playstation 2

The Linux package for the Playstation 2 is already available in Japan. At the 'Linux World Conference and Expo' Sony announced the release for the USA and possibly also Europe. In addition to two DVDs, a lot of hardware is also included.

The package consists of two DVDs, a hard disk which has a capacity of 40 Gbytes, a 100 Mbit network card and a USB mouse and keyboard. In addition, an adapter, which enables the connection of a computer monitor, is included. The Linux kernel has version number 2.2.1 and supports USB. For 200 to 300 US dollars you can get a package in May/June that transforms the Playstation 2 into a real PC.
