Is AOL buying Red Hat?
According to the Washington Post, AOL Time Warner is currently planning to take over the Linux distributor 'Red Hat' and is even said to be in initial discussions with him. There is no official confirmation for this plan yet.
The takeover is justified by the fact that AOL Time Warner is looking for an alternative to Windows and wants to come onto the market with a combination of Linux and AOL software, which would penetrate Microsoft's previous domain. So far, around 90 percent of AOL customers use a Microsoft operating system. However, it is not yet clear how much AOL Time Warner is willing to pay for Red Hat. According to current market values, AOL would have to raise around 1.45 billion US dollars.
