Iomega brings new USB 2.0 and Firewire hard drives
Iomega is now bringing two new series of external hard drives onto the market, expanding the product family of external storage media. The new products include the HDD Portable Hard Drive with capacities of 20 GB and 40 GB and the HDD External Hard Drive with capacities of 80 GB and 120 GB.
The new drives are hot-swappable, which means the user you can easily connect it to your computer without having to restart the system or install the drive beforehand.
Das HDD Portable Hard Drive 20 GB will be available from the end of May for 299 euros, the 40 GB version from the end of June. This model will change hands in the USB 2.0 version for 399 euros, whereas the model with Firewire interface will cost 529 euros. The devices weigh only 231 grams and can withstand falls from a height of 1.20 meters. The transfer rates of the Protable Hard Drive are specified by Iomega with up to 21 MB per second.
The HDD External Hard Drive with 80 GB will come on the market in June for 429 euros. The model with a total capacity of 120 GB should also be available in June, but the USB 2.0 variant will cost you 599 euros. A Firewire version is also available here, which will cost 30 euros more.
