Intel's dual-channel DDR chipset in preview

The colleagues from HardOCP had the opportunity to publish a first preview of Intel's upcoming dual-channel DDR-RAM chipset. However, you must not mention the name of the chipset. We assume, however, that it is the Granite Bay, which we have already mentioned many times in the past.

The Granite Bay shouldn't appear before the end of this year. A first preview board from Asus, the P4G8X, was used in the tests. In addition to the new dual-channel chipset for DDR RAM from Intel, it also has AGP8x and Serial-ATA. The results of the benchmarks made by HardOCP are quite promising and interesting, as the new chipset can hold its own against the Rambus competition. Sometimes it even outstrips them. Of course, one must not forget that the drivers are still in the early alpha stage and HardOCP was even forced to reduce the timing of the DDR RAM a little for reasons of stability. Therefore only CAS2.5 and a 2T command rate were used. One can hope for a lot from this chipset and we hope to receive more detailed information about it soon. If you want to get an impression of the result yourself, it is best to take a look at the Preview from HardOCP .
