Intel surprised by sudden demand?
According to independent sources, the Pentium 4 1.7 GHz is currently not only difficult to get, but delivery times of up to four weeks (for Intel) are unusually long. The Pentium 4 with 1.3 to 1.5 GHz and the Mobile Pentium III 1 GHz are also difficult or even impossible to get at the moment.
However, Intel will observe this situation with a crying and a laughing eye . The delivery bottlenecks are based on a sudden increase in demand that can currently no longer be covered from stocks or ongoing production. Intel has 'finally' been able to establish the Pentium 4 thanks to the drastic price reductions and the global advertising campaign, but waiting customers will probably reorient themselves just as quickly and strive towards the available competition.
