Intel publishes fourth quarter 2001 results
Intel today announced its fourth quarter 2001 results. After that, after the sometimes catastrophic first three quarters, the group was able to increase sales by 7% at the end of the year.
However, sales remained poor compared to the 4th quarter of the previous year 2000 with a minus of approx. 20%. The changes in profit are even more drastic. Although this increased by a gigantic 375% to 504 million US dollars compared to the third quarter, it was also a steep 77% behind the golden results of the previous year. With the words '2001 was a terrible year for our industry', Intel boss Barrett was just a sobering look into the past. Tomorrow we will be able to find out how our biggest competitor AMD fared in its press release.
