Intel presents Mobile Pentium 4

The date had already been mentioned in many rumors, today it was confirmed: Intel officially presented the Mobile Pentium 4 today as well as the matching chipset, the Mobile i845. Both have been optimized for use in notebooks.

Intel has integrated the NetBurst technology, so an FSB of 400 MHz (Quad-Pumped) and SSE2 supported. The first version is the Pentium 4 M in 0.13µ technology with 512 KB L2 cache and 1.6 and 1.7 GHz clock frequency. Due to the new energy-saving technologies such as DeepSleep and DeeperSleep, the battery life of the notebooks should be extended. As the first mobile chipset for this purpose, Intel presented the i845MP, which supports DDR RAM and an external AGP 4x graphics card. The i845MZ, which is intended for budget notebooks, will be available later in the year. Wholesalers pay US $ 401 for the 1.6 GHz model, and US $ 508 for 100 MHz more. The Mobile i845MP chipset, on the other hand, costs only $ 43.
