Intel introduces new processor
On the second day of the IDF, Intel presented a new processor. Its name: 'StrongArm2' and is traded as the killer of the Transmeta Crusoe processor by Intel.
The reason is the low power consumption, at 1 GHz it only consumes 1.5 watts, at 1.8 V. At 800 MHz, the consumption drops to below 1 watt and at a speed of 200 MHz it is only 50 mW. The performance of the processor is also convincing, at 1GHz it reaches 1500 Dhrystone-MIPS, at 800 MHz: 1000 MIPS and at 200 MHz: 250 MIPS. With this processor, Intel is targeting the mobile sector, i.e. cell phones and notebooks.
