Intel files counterclaim against VIA

The endless legal battle between Intel and VIA is about to enter the next round. Intel has expanded its lawsuit against VIA and provided a counterclaim. In the counterclaim, which was filed on October 5th, Intel accuses VIA of violating five Intel patents for the C3 CPU, causing immense damage to Intel.

Intel wants to obtain an injunction so that VIA can be prevented from continuing to deliver and sell their chips. The disagreements between Intel and VIA have not only existed since yesterday; Intel filed a lawsuit against VIA when the Pentium3 was launched. VIA claimed at the time that Intel only wanted to push its competitors out of the market in order to be able to dominate the chipset market alone. At that time it was possible to agree on a license agreement, as will be the outcome of the current lawsuits, but it is still completely open.
