Intel downgrades Pentium III

Intel wants to orient the Pentium III only to the low-cost market in the future like the Celeron or AMD the K6-2. The Willamette is to be the successor to the PIII in the midfield.

This means that the Willamette is in direct competition with AMD's Thunderbird, which is why Intel also stopped developing the 200MHz PIII chipset.
