Intel comes with DDR333 support
Intel has now decided to equip its i845 and i845G chipset series with a DDR333 capable Northbridge for the long term. The chipset representatives will be named i845PE and i845PG and should be presented at Computex in Taiwan in June.
However, the market launch will be a long time coming, although the changes compared to the i845E, which will be released soon and i845G with support for the new Pentium 4 processors presented today are not that big. All four chipsets will be equipped with Intel ICH4 with USB 2.0. Only the memory controller hub (MCH) needs to be adjusted slightly to support the higher clocked memory. The chipsets to be released in September are said to be only 3 US dollars more expensive to buy and should therefore be well received by the manufacturers.
