Intel builds new chip factory

Intel, still the world's largest processor manufacturer, reached an agreement today with the Israeli government to build a new chip factory in Kiryat Gat, 65 kilometers southeast of Tel Aviv. The cost of building the new production facility is estimated at 3.5 billion US dollars, of which 400 million US dollars will be borne by the Israeli government.

The new facility is intended for the production of the latest generation of 300mm wafers, on which day construction will begin and when completion is expected has not yet been announced.
