Inno3D Tornado GeForce2 MX400 in the test: 32 and 64 MB VRAM in comparison

Quake 3 Arena

Quake 3 Arena is an OpenGL action shooter with impressive graphics. Today's graphics cards have no problem achieving high frame rates in this game. Even a GeForce2 MX is sufficient for almost all purposes.

Quake 3 Arena normal details
  • 640x480:
    • GeForce2 MX400 32MB
      119.7
    • GeForce2 MX400 64MB
      119.1
    • GeForce2 MX
      119.0
  • 800x600:

      41.7
    • GeForce2 MX400 64MB
      39.3
    • GeForce2 MX
      36,9

In 640x480 and 800x600 the performance is obviously limited by the processor, because here the differences lie in the range of the measurement inaccuracies. However, from 1024x768 it becomes clear that the old GeForce2 MX is clearly falling behind. The 64MB version cannot compete with the 32MB version and fails in 1600x1200 at this apparently insurmountable hurdle.
