Infineon reports a significant increase in sales

Infineon has announced the figures for the second quarter of 2002, with sales of 1.39 billion euros, an increase of 34 percent compared to the previous quarter and only 16 percent less than in the second quarter of 2001.

In the storage area alone, Infineon was able to increase sales by 105 percent, earnings before taxes (EBIT) now show a minus of 178 million euros, in the previous quarter there was a loss of 564 million euros. The net loss is stated at 108 million euros, here too an improvement on the 331 million euros loss in the first quarter of 2002. In the first half of the 2002 financial year, Infineon posted sales of 2.42 billion euros, a decrease of 27 percent compared to sales in the same period of the Previous year with 3.31 billion euros. The EBIT has so far been minus 742 million euros compared to a positive EBIT of 456 million euros in the first half of 2001. In terms of net income, there was a loss of 439 million euros compared to a profit of 303 million euros in the previous year for the first half of the year.
