Infineon also successfully against Rambus
In the dispute over patent infringements between Infineon and Rambus, Rambus now suffered a loss. A court prohibited Rambus from further lawsuits against Infineon regarding the technologies used in SD and DDR RAM.
Rambus had obtained an injunction according to which Infineon infringed some of the more than 80 Rambus patents in the production of its SD and DDR RAM memories. A court in the US state of Virginia has now revised a decision from August in an appeal judgment and thus presumably ushered in a turning point in the entire DRAM disputes. Infineon had stated that it only used open standards in production, should this position be recognized as legally valid, some cases from the past in which Rambus had reached an out-of-court settlement will probably be reopened. Rambus has announced an appeal against the judgment, but had already lost another legal dispute against Infineon in May.
